Tobias Mead has vowed to put Warminster on the map, the town he grew up in. If he makes the semi-finals of the competition due to be held live throughout next week.
Growing up in South Street, Warminster,Tobias wowed judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden in the first audition of the show back in April.
The 22-year-old, along with residents of Warminster including pupils at his former school, will learn whether he has made the semi-finals of the competition tomorrow, when the final auditions are broadcast on ITV at 8pm.
That will be followed by five semi-final shows next week and a coveted final on June 5, with the winner getting the chance to perform for the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.
“I’ve got my fingers crossed that I make the semi-finals and if I get there I’ve got some things lined up that will be fresh and magical. Of course I’ll be nervous, but I’m hoping I’ll feed off those nerves and put in a performance of a lifetime. “It would be nice to put Warminster on the map other than in connection with aliens and squaddies.”
Deputy headteacher at Kingdown, Sara Edwards, who taught Tobias PE, said the school is right behind their homegrown protege.
“It’s great to see somebody following their dream,” she said.
“Of course I’ll be watching if he gets to the semi-finals and I’ll be voting for him as well.
“He used to love PE. He was just always a happy, cheeky, and sparkly boy.
“He was brilliant at dance even then. I remember him from the school productions in particular.
“We’d love to see him back here if he wants to come. The children would love to see him.”
